The Avro Lancaster was a World War II twin-engine, heavy bomber aircraft designed by Roy Chadwick. Manufactured by Avro for Royal Air Forces, the Avro aircraft featured advanced avionics and communication system during its time. It was also equipped with radars along with the usual radio and countermeasure equipment. The Avro Lancaster proved its worth as a heavy bomber from 1942 to 1945, completing 100 operations during that period. Some of the notable raids where the Avro participated in were 1943’s Operation Gomorrah and on the German battleship Tirpitz on the same year.
